The Beauty of Hardship I | Steel, 585white gold, diamond 2021
Due to its high economic value, gold has long been the metal of choice for many forms of jewelry, particularly rings, given their role in our society as a symbol of major life milestones. Meanwhile, iron, a traditionally primitive and commonplace metal, is seldom used in jewelry due to its industrial image. In my work, I challenge these standards by inviting both metals and displaying how they may interact. A ring with a beautiful gold-tone and dazzling texture, combined with the charm of iron’s raw, primitive strength, gives the audience a safe space to flirt with new ideas.
